Hey Friends,
Thanks for your kind words and suggestions related to my last newsletter, Pushing Through Depression. I’m focused on putting one foot before the other. My body is clean. My house is clean. My family is safe. We’re doing mostly good.
Here’s what’s new in my world:
I was accepted into CynCity Creative’s inaugural artist cohort. Cynthia Kaye McWilliams, founder and owner of CynCity Creative launched this cohort inspire collaboration between Chicago-based writers, actors, directors, and producers.
We met up last Saturday to learn more about each other and the cohort’s intention. We were divided into 4 teams and challenged to produce a 1-3 minute short. Seeing creatives jump into action was inspiring. I’ve never done anything like that before.
It was lovely bumping into long-time friends Mariann Aalda and Kellye Howard as well as new friends Ben Locke and Xavier McKnight. Looking forward to future collaborations.
Thanks for ‘liking’ and commenting “Hyde Park” on Strugglebeard Bakery’s entry for South Side Pitch Chicago. If you haven’t as yet, please do that. It will take less than 1 minute. You don’t even need to watch the video.
Bonus: Show us your proof at the bakery and get 10% off your order this week as a thank-you!

Some not so great news:
Devin nor I received the Chicago DCASE grant. Very thankful I pushed through and found other ways to produce the table read for my blackity Black romantic comedy.
My project also didn’t get into YALL (Yes And Laughter Lab).
Basically, I was rejected from all the grants and fellowships I applied to over winter break.

Devin will be attending New York Comic Con (NYCC) this year for the first time. This is major. Check out his latest newsletter on Substack for details of his trip and other news.
That’s about if for today. How are you feeling? Are you ready for winter? I absolutely will be looking for tips and tricks for surviving winter. Should I get one of those mood lamps?
