SDA Cult

Damn, It Took Me Almost 15 Years to Leave a Cult

I’m sharing my experience because there’s probably a Rebelle who is where I was.  If you relate to any of these, babes, I’m sorry to say but you’re probably in a cult or high-control religion. If my list feels familiar but you’re still not sure, I’d say try taking a break from actively participating. Feeling anxiety about leaving a relationship or organization is a sign that it’s cultish.

Do you relate to any of these?

Black and CULTivated: Touchdowns and Tithes

LaNisa Frederick sits down with Hersal Pickett — a former member of her old church (but not her congregation) — who opens up about his time in the doomsday cult, the Worldwide Church of God. Like Pam in the last episode, Hersal caught on early that something wasn’t adding up. Hersal is a UNC Chapel Hill basketball superfan 🏀, a proud husband and dad, a badass cancer survivor (say it with me: #fuckcancer), and quite possibly the nicest human alive. Case in point: LaNisa mispronounces his name the entire episode, and this man didn’t correct her once. 🙃 It’s HERSAL, y’all — not Hershal. All love.
