Here’s another big secret: I’m producing a feature-length romantic comedy!
Friends! It’s me, Onicia—writer, comedian, human with two goals on her mind. Last week, I reveal a deep dark geriatric Millennial secret: I want a monetized YouTube channel. Over the next 15 weeks, everything related creating videos for YouTube and becoming a monetized channel. I’ll share what worked, what flopped, scary video ideas, favorite video projects, and thoughts on being a “content creator.”
Here’s the rundown on my new secret.
Summer 2021, I revealed that I was on a journey to selling a movie to a Sony/ScreenGems. (I think I can say their name now that nothing is happening.) Sadly, the very kind and generous Creative Executive rejected all 10 romcom movie ideas. I napped. I cried. Dang it, I’d spent too many blasted hours watching Kevin Samuels’ hateful videos! This romcom movie idea was not dying on my hard drive.
The script is done; I might as well produce it. Technically, I’m starting with just a table read. I’m not quite ready to jump into production. The point is—one way or another—you will get to experience Rest in Piss, Devin Damuels!

YouTube Monetization Journey Update
For a YouTube channel to be monetized, I need 500 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours. The table below shows a summary of my progress.
| YouTube Monetization Goal | Week 1 of 16 | Week 2 of 16 | Progress |
| 500 Subscribers | 268 | 271 | + 3 |
| 4,000 Watch hours | 4 | 20.3 | + 16.3 |
Thank you to all 48 friends who answered the Queen Mariah’s call to grant my one and only Christmas wish. Clearly, it’s very unlikely that I will be monetized by December 25. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try!
QUESTION: What would incentivize you to help me on this journey? Prizes? special videos? promoting your social media accounts? Would plain ole 🌟gratitude🌟 suffice? Email me your ideas.

Script notes and proofreading by experienced TV writer Ashley Ray
Purchasing Ashley Ray’s Premium Fire Film Reading – 5pg Notes + Proofreading package was one of the smartest actions I took for my romcom. 9/10 recommend. Only deducted 1 point because turnaround was a bit late, but when she showed up, she showed out. Now, you might not benefit from her generous WGA writer’s strike discount. Still, her notes are worth the price.
It Ends With Us: The Book That Should Have Ended Sooner
As a creator of art, I know it takes a lot of courage to put our stories out there. That said, every now and then, we gotta get these jokes off. If only to soothe the sadness of not yet being published ourselves. I love Withcindy’s book reviews especially her ‘Roast With Cindy’ playlist on YouTube. I may never watch these films or read these books, but I will always, ALWAYS join Cindy for a good read and roast.
